From the deepest roots of flamenco, this dance show is born, shaped by the luminosity of the alegrías, the depth of the taranto, the rhythms of the tangos and bulerías, and the jondura of the soleá and the farruca. Like a newly germinated seed nourished by morning dew, this work unfolds as a sensorial journey—from the lament etched in ancestral memory toward an uncertain yet graceful future. Each gesture blossoms like azahar, invoking the past while carving space for the new. Passion, strength, and the extraordinary flight of her hands align with the elegance and sensuality of flamenco in its most authentic expression.
This production is the fruit of a young artist’s bold creative path: Rebeca Ortega, a ‘bailaora’ who merges flamenco’s timeless roots with contemporary poetics. Her recent work SILENCES, nominated for Best Dancer at the 2024 Seville Stages Awards, captivating audiences with its fusion of tradition and innovation. Previously, RAÍCES, a theatrical flamenco piece, earned her third finalist in the 2022 Madroño Young Dance Creators Awards and was selected for touring by the Network of Theatres of the Community of Madrid.
Rebeca’s rapid ascent is marked by her performances at prestigious international stages including Teatros del Canal (Madrid), Watford Palace Theatre (London), Montreux Dance Festival (Switzerland), and the National Theatres of Armenia and Trinidad and Tobago. Endorsed by the Spanish Embassy, she has represented flamenco across continents, with performances in China, Bhutan, India, Ethiopia, and beyond.
Her presence in renowned festivals such as Suma Flamenca Joven 2022 and Suma Flamenca 2023 affirms her position as one of flamenco’s emerging dancers, offering a dance that is at once profound, luminous, and fiercely alive.
