🎶 Playing Well: Therapies, Injury Prevention & Good Teaching Practice
Term 3 QMTA Members Meet
Friday September 5 | 10am-12pm
Followed by a shared lunch
All QMTA members are warmly invited to our Term 3 Members Meet for a special session focused on promoting healthy, sustainable musicianship.
We’ll hear from Sarah Hislop (EKCO Hand Therapy), who will discuss the increasing number of students presenting with pain, hypermobility, and playing-related strain—and the role of hand therapy in prevention, support, and recovery. Learn about strategies such as splints, exercises, and non-invasive approaches that go beyond traumatic injury treatment.
Brenda Hunting (QMTA Mentor, certified in the Taubman approach) will share insights into injury-preventative teaching and sound piano technique using the Taubman approach, and join the discussion around practical solutions for healthy playing.
We’re also pleased to welcome Sarah Whiting (Other Music) who will showcase new music resources, releases, and fulfil any pre-arranged orders on the day.
💬 This is a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and explore how educators and therapists can collaborate to support student wellbeing through excellent teaching practice. Don’t miss it!
☕ Please bring a plate to share for lunch
