Võrreldes võistlustantsuga õpitakse seltskonnatantsu tundides lihtsamaid põhisamme ja liikumisi. Tants tekitab hea meeleolu, pakub mõõdukat füüsilist koormust ja loob tantsupartneritele mõnusa enesetunde.
