THE GARAGE AT TALLINN`S MOST GENTRIFIED AREA IS FINALLY GETTING WHAT IT DESERVES- A NIGHT OF DISTORTION, EYELINER AND BAD POSTURE FROM THE NEXT INSTALMENT OF PANIC HISTORY.
For many, music is an enactment of inner panic made public, a confrontation with an internal chaos shaped by mental and social turbulence. The topic will be investigated by two bands who interpret panic in their sound each to their own way.
The Lunacy of Flowers (UK/EST) Londoner The Lunacy of Flowers brings an electronic post-punk, industrial style full of earworms that leave you scratching your head and wondering why you haven’t heard this sooner. The romantic lunatic delivers angsty drama that’s darkly attractive.

Polevaulter (UK) The wide sonic spectrum the two create is grounded in the marriage of seismic bass and thundering electronic beats, garnished with haunting loops and clips from the infinite spectrum of doomed culture. The words which are yelped and brayed atop the musical landscape are boastful, accusing, repellent and inviting, questioning and ridiculing masculinity, sexuality, toxic culture, the music industry and the miserable reality of England.

Societies appear to be subject, every now and then, to periods of moral panic. A condition, episode, person or group of persons emerges to become defined as a threat to societal values and interests; its nature is presented in a stylized and stereotypical fashion by the mass media; the moral barricades are manned by editors, bishops, politicians and other right-thinking people; socially accredited experts pronounce their diagnoses and solutions; ways of coping are evolved or (more often) resorted to; the condition then disappears, submerges or deteriorates and becomes more visible.” (Cohen, 1973, p. 9)
Moral panic relies on “at least a certain minimal measure of consensus... that the threat is real”.
Since the coining of this term, moral panics have the following requirements:
i. there must be a suitable and easily-denounced enemy with little power
ii. there must be a suitable victim (e.g. society, youth, morality)
iii. most people must agree that the enemy is “a deeper symptom of wider problems within society”
Stages of social reaction that often accompany moral panics:
i. campaigns in the tabloid media
ii. increasing police intervention
iii. changes in laws
iv. lessening of media interest
v. media interest is rekindled by harm reduction campaigns and isolated act(s)
** Interlüüd workshop is a bunch of architects and non-architects. Our goal is to build a toolbox with which we can do spatial experiments. What are the basic elements for creating a dance floor? How does a dance floor work in the key of guerrilla urbanism? Interlüüd is inviting people from different walks of life to experiment and play with a selfbuilt sound system.
