Topic: "Demystifying Play: Getting Started with Game Design"
Interested in game design but not sure where to get started? Don’t worry: you’ve probably already made a game or two.
Join game designers Dominique Dickey and C. J. Linton for an introductory game design workshop. We’ll start with theory and then get hands on to explore the why and how of making a game. This workshop is intended for folks who are new to game design or excited to go back to the basics!
Guest instructors:
Sly Robot Games is a DC-based press that makes games about community, struggle, and finding hope in difficult circumstances. Sly Robot titles include Tomorrow on Revelation III, Plant Girl Game, and The Prince of Nothing Good (upcoming).
Dominique Dickey is the creative director of Sly Robot Games. Their novella Redundancies & Potentials is out now from Neon Hemlock Press, and you can find their work in Lightspeed Magazine, Fantasy Magazine, and Nightmare Magazine.
C. J. Linton is the business director of Sly Robot Games and a DC-based writer, editor, game designer, artist, and dramaturg. You can find his work in Uncanny Magazine and on the front covers of handbound notebooks around the DMV.
