Adult Oldtime Stringband

Wednesdays 8:30- 9:30 pm 9/24, 10/8, 10/29, 11/12, 12/10

In this class we will be focusing on building an Oldtime Stringband that can provide good rhythmic dance music for a square dance. Students should already have a basic familiarity with their instruments and be seeking to discover the role that their instrument can play in an Oldtime band. As a group we will focus on feel, groove, timing, repertoire, arrangements, harmony singing and performance all while building our skills and trust within the group. We will play in multiple keys and feels with a heavy focus on learning by ear. It can often be hard to grow as a musician with collaborators to show up for and grow with. This class aims to help interested musicians with taking this next step in their skill development.
