Kia ora, me hearties!
Friday 19 September is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Aaargh! It is also Māori Language Week (Te Wiki o te Reo Māori). Ka pai! Feel free to use both languages liberally on Saturday, when we will be doing a gentle circuit of Orewa and the surrounding areas. (Sign Language is, of course, also an official language, which you can use if you wish until you fall off your bike from riding with no hands.)
Saturday, 20 September 2025, 9:30a.m. for a 10:00a.m. start. Meet at Driftwood Café, 214B Hibiscus Coast Highway, Orewa 0931, in Estuary Arts Centre. Pack some extra patience in your paniers as the lovely people at this café are not noted for their speedy production of coffees.

This is a map of possibilities (and maybe impossibilities). Milldale is developing faster than my maps, and so we may do some exploring when we get there. Also, we will have to explore which parts of the Orewa coastal path are rideable. And, having smelt the Orewa cafes as we ride pass them, we might lose interest in riding up Hill Crest Road and have lunch instead!
Noho ora mai, ye grog-swillin', scallywagging landlubbers!
John
PS There will be a partial (60% in Auckland) solar eclipse, reaching a maximum at 6:55a.m. on Monday 22 September. Protect your vision by looking at it on YouTube. (Actually, I think that morning may be wet and cloudy, anyway).
