當人的手介入故事的生產與製造時，它扮演了什麼樣的角色？本場藝術家講座將由來自美國／德國的藝術家雙人組 eteam（Franziska Lamprecht & Hajoe Moderegger）分享他們的觀察、研究、構想與提問。他們從台灣傳統布袋戲和當代手持數位裝置（如智慧型手機）之間的對照出發，思考各種用於傳送訊號、數據與知識的工具，如何展現獨特且各異的操控特性與表演能量，並進一步提問：「Transmissionaries」能否作為一個足以貼切指稱這類由人手操作的媒介裝置的名稱？講座將以開放對話的形式進行，歡迎一起參與討論。
By comparing the performative power of traditional Taiwanese glove puppets 布袋戲 to that of today’s handheld digital devices like smartphones, we ask how the codes of an analog, traditional craft coexist with and influence the codes embedded in digital devices, interfaces, storytelling, image- and sound making.
Where do soul, processing power, artificial intelligence, and wisdom reside—and how are they transmitted?
What roles do human hands play in the production of stories?
American/German artists Franziska Lamprecht and Hajoe Moderegger (eteam) present research, observations, ideas and questions that draw connections between Puppet Stage and Social Feed, algorithms and traditional patterns to generate and narrate epics, puppeteers and smart phone users, uploading, worshipping.
Audience members are invited to consider, if “Transmissionaries” is an appropriate name for the hand-operated devices we humans use to send signals, data, knowledge.
Who sends these transmissions—and what exactly do they communicate?
