§ 關於松田朕佳 §
1983年生於日本。2006年畢業於紐西蘭尼爾森·馬爾伯勒理工學院（Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology），獲學士學位。2010年於美國亞利桑那大學（University of Arizona）取得藝術碩士學位（MFA）。松田曾受邀參與多項藝術家駐村計畫，包括保加利亞的 Process-Space Art Festival、美國的 Border Art Residency 與 Prairie Center of the Arts、德國的 Agora Winter Residency、西班牙的 Homesession，以及加拿大的 Centre CLARK 等地。
自2015年起，松田以跨領域合作團體「Earless Mouth / Mouse」展開創作，該團體將軟體程式設計與科技融入藝術中，並於2017年日本岐阜「清流之國藝術祭：立方體中的藝術獎（Art Award IN THE CUBE）」中獲評審獎。2019年，松田與「Earless Mouth / Mouse」成員天宮美和（Miwo Amamiya）成立合作單位「CHIKA, MIWO, & MORE」，其創作以過程為導向，強調與在地社群的交流與對話，並常延伸出如酒吧、咖啡廳、美容沙龍、魔術表演與占卜等看似玩樂、虛構、荒謬的副計畫，作為一種溝通的手段。
§ 創作論述 §
我們的知覺與經驗受語言、文化脈絡與歷史影響。我們並未受訓去無濾鏡地觀看世界。我的創作實踐，正是質疑並喚起人們對這些「理所當然」的注意，從而察覺自身的認知濾鏡。
我主要從事雕塑、裝置藝術，有時也涉及錄像與行為表演。我關注那些具有社會意涵、期待與功能性的實用物件、動作與圖像，在創作中，我將它們的原有目的與既定印象顛覆、轉化。這個過程類似文字遊戲：取一個詞或一句話，改變其語法或字母順序，從而生成新的語句。新的語句可能更具詩意、令人不安、或更幽默，而人們也會發現，這些特質其實早已潛藏於原始語句之中。對我而言，藝術創作是一種認識世界的方式——用自己的語言重構那些曾被他人建構的語言。
近年來，在離開英語系國家、旅居十年後，我重新發現日本文化。語言如何影響個性與行為，也成為我思考「人如何經驗其身體在地球上的存在」的一部分。然而在更大的層次上，我們的經驗也受限於演化過程中根據環境所做出的無意識選擇。語言似乎是思考的必要條件，但若能瓦解我們慣常的思維模式，也許就能為無濾鏡地感知世界，留下一點空間。
§ About Chika Matsuda §
Born in 1983, in Japan. Graduated and received her BA from Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, New Zealand in 2006. MFA from University of Arizona, U.S.A. in 2010. Matsuda has been invited to several artist-in-residencies, such as Process-Space Art Festival (Bulgaria), Border Art Residency (U.S.A.), Prairie Center of the Arts (U.S.A.), Agora Winter Residency (Germany), Homesession (Spain), Centre CLARK (Canada). Since 2015, she started to work as an inter-disciplinary collaborative team Earless Mouth / Mouse. The team incorporates software programing and technology with Art, and their work have been awarded a judge’s prize at Gifu Land of Clear Waters Art Festival Art Award IN THE CUBE 2017 in Japan. In 2019, member of Earless Mouth / Mouse, Miwo Amamiya and Matsuda started a collaborative unit “CHIKA, MIWO, & MORE”. Their projects are process oriented which involves discussion with people in the community, and often produces side projects such as a bar, a cafe, a salon, magic show, and fortune telling, and so on. They use these side projects which appears to be playful, faking and non-sense performance as a communication tool.
§ Artist Statement §
Perception and experience are influenced by language, cultural context and histories. We are not trained to see things without intellectual and social filters. My art practice is to question and to draw attention to things that we often take for granted, in order to be aware of those filters.
I work with sculpture, installation, and sometimes video and performance. In my work I am interested in the use of utilitarian objects, gestures and images that have social connotations, expectations and purposes. I make changes to them in the way that denies these purposes, expectations and connotations. Its process is similar to play on words. Take a word or a sentence and change its grammatical or alphabetical order to create a different word or a sentence. The new word or a sentence maybe more poetic, disturbing, funny and so on than its original, yet one will also notice that these elements were already imbedded in the original. Art practice to me is a way to grasp the world, by re-constructing with my own words that has been constructed by someone else’s words.
Recent years, I am rediscovering Japanese culture after spending about 10 years in English speaking countries. I am observing language influence in personality and behavior, and this is a part of how we experience our human body on the earth. Yet there is a lager factor which is our unconscious choices we have been making in the process of evolution according to our environment. It seems impossible to think without language, but by destructing our ordinary thinking pattern can possibly make a space to experience and perceive the world without filters.
