Sommarutställningen ”Clear-cut” av Emilia Bergmark handlar om Sveriges skogar i en tid av klimatkris och förlust av biologisk mångfald. I Orsa har skogsindustrin varit avgörande för uppbyggnaden av samhället. Samtidigt är de kvarvarande skogarna med höga naturvärden i kommunen få. Under sommaren 2024 genomförde Bergmark en förstudie i Orsa med intervjuer, skogsturer och samtal med biologer, skogsägare och skogsarbetare. Det gav en inblick i de lokala perspektiven på skogen och lyfte frågan om vad en skog är, och vad vi vill att Sveriges skogar ska vara i framtiden. Utifrån förstudien har Bergmark skapat utställningen ”Clear-cut”.
De centrala verken i utställningen är två berättande bildvävar som sammanför bild- och textfragment om skogen. Lavar, daldräll, rottrådar, trakthyggen, kurbits, knärot, älg och tall – i utställningen vävs ett nätverk av historier samman för att skildra lokala frågor om skog, frågor som speglar nationella och globala problem.

Emilia Bergmark (f. 1986, SE) är en installationskonstnär som bor och arbetar i Köpenhamn. Bergmarks konstnärskap är drivet av ett intresse för mänsklig psykologi och hur människan som ett socialt, politiskt och kännande väsen formas av världen omkring oss; design, arkitektur, och inte minst naturen. Hennes verk utforskar hur vi som människor är kopplade till naturen och hur de immateriella konsekvenserna av klimat- och biodiversitetskris kan bearbetas i ett konstnärligt uttryck.
Utställningen har skapats med stöd från Region Dalarna, Danish Art Foundation, Danish National Workshops for Art, Orsa Besparingsskog, Grosserer L. F. Fogats Fond och Jorck’s Fond. I skapandet av utställningen har Emilia fått hjälp och kunskap från Naturskyddsföreningen i Orsa, Skydda Skogen, Orsa Besparingsskog, Spillkråkan, Orsa hembygdsgård, samt ett antal lokala sakkunniga personer i sin research, stort tack för generositeten.

CLEAR-CUT
The summer exhibition Clear-cut by Emilia Bergmark centres on Sweden’s forests in a time of climate crisis and biodiversity loss. In the small town of Orsa, forestry has shaped both the land and the lives that grew up around it. It helped build the village and laid the groundwork for the regional welfare. But today, only fragments remain of the old, ecologically rich forests once rooted here.
In the summer of 2024, Bergmark spent time in Orsa, walking through the woods, speaking with biologists, forest owners and foresters. She listened to their stories and perspectives - personal, practical, scientific - and gathered them into a larger question: what is a forest, really? And what kind of forests do we want for the future?
From this fieldwork, Clear-cut took shape. At its core are two woven tapestries, each telling the story of a forest. Throughout the exhibition, threads of imagery and language tangle and connect. Lichens like quiet signals of age. Daldräll and Rosengång, regional weaving patterns. Root threads and fungal networks. Clear-cuts tracts. Fäbodristningar, carved messages from the past. Knärot, a shy orchid that live in the wet mosses of old-growth forests. Moose. Pine. Together, they form a web of local forest lore - one that reflects much broader, planetary questions about how we live with and within nature.
Emilia Bergmark (SE) is a visual artist who lives and works in Copenhagen, DK. She develops poetic and humorous installations that combine sculpture, writing, interior design, film and print. An ongoing strand of her research explores non-human objects from an anthropocentric viewpoint, analysing and critiquing the systems by which humankind imposes order and meaning on the world. By giving voice to the non-human she creates tragicomic scenes which poke fun at the idiosyncrasies of modern life.
