🇺🇸 🗽 Out of a Mountain of Despair, a Stone of Hope: Insights from a Summer Course on American Society, Identity, and Culture 🏞️
🎤 Special Guest: Máté Huber (Assistant Professor at the Institute of English and American Studies, SZTE)
💬🗣️ This session will be a condensed version of a six-week postgraduate course held in the summer of 2025 as part of the Study the US Institutes for Scholars scholarship program in the United States. The course took place in a variety of locations from Seattle, WA through Montgomery, AL and New Orleans, LA all the way to Washington, DC, and covered a wide range of topics related to American society, culture, identity, and institutions.
🗺️ Instead of a traditional travelogue, our guest speaker will highlight some current issues concerning the USA today through the diversity of these topics. The session will consist of five short lecture input stages, each of them followed by an interactive discussion block connected to contemporary American social issues and cultural phenomena.
Come join the conversation! 💬🗣️
