We apologise for the technical difficulties from our event in July. On this new date will be will be holding a community information session to talk about our work and to talk about this new initiative which we are calling "A community based restorative practice project".
What will the session cover? This will be an opportunity for organisations, services, individuals and networks to learn about restorative responses to sexual harm, and to consider how engaging with Transforming Justice may support the needs of community, people harmed and responsible for sexual harm.
This event could be an opportunity for future engagement between TJA and community.
Over the coming years we hope to understand the hopes, needs and existing responses to sexual harm in the community, and to explain how some of our restorative practice and approaches could add to what currently exists including:
- offering community listening circles, training and support
- providing information and resources on facilitating Solidarity Circles for survivors of sexual harm
- facilitating education and support group program for people responsible for harm (REVIVE) plus provide casework for people responsible and their family and community members
- develop a community resource or toolkit to support future restorative justice initiatives
We commit to:
- engaging in community led data sovereignty
- accepting referrals into any of the programs and supports offered by Transforming Justice
- seeking permission from traditional owners to work in this region
- sharing our knowledge of restorative responses to sexual harm
- codesign a localised community resource or toolkit to support future responses to sexual harm including restorative justice initiatives
- mapping responses to sexual harm across locations, to further development of existing, pathways or available support across regions.
