Kim Cypher is one of the UK’s most exciting and exuberant saxophonists, vocalists, composers and band leaders. A regular performer on the London and UK jazz circuit, with success of three highly acclaimed albums, award-winning music videos, performance in New York and sell-out performances at world-renowned Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Kim has firmly secured her reputation as a leading figure in contemporary jazz, renowned for her vivacious style, passion, energy, charisma and warm connection with all audiences.
Following her performance at last year's inaugural Highworth Jazz Festival, Kim is delighted to return again this year, as the festival features 'Women in Jazz'.
Kim will perform with her band for the final slot of the day at the Highworth Hotel (from 9.00pm). She will also feature as part of an earlier set by Fiona Ross from 5.00pm in the United Reform Church.
Inspired by the funkier side of jazz and having studied alongside US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis and internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, Kim will captivate you in a spellbinding performance, sharing positive energy through her music and audience repartee.
Together with her highly respected band, Kim will perform an eclectic, lively mix of jazz, blues, Latin and swing together with some well-known favourites and funky grooves.
Kim has performed and recorded with some of the country’s finest jazz musicians including Pee Wee Ellis, Ray Gelato, Liane Carroll, David Newton, Ashley Slater, Antonio Forcione, Clem Clempson, Peter Lemer with her regular band personnel including some of the most experienced and respected musicians on the UK jazz circuit who, between them have performed with artists such as Courtney Pine, Ronnie Scott’s Big Band, Curtis Stigers, Sheila Ferguson (the Three Degrees), Paloma Faith, Van Morrison, Osibisa, Monty Alexander, Spike Robinson, James Brown Horns (Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis), Kylie Minogue, Westlife…
