Join us for an educational day and walking tour of the Somerset Sportsman’s Club property to learn how your sportsman’s club or private property can play a vital role with The American Chestnut Foundation to help restore the American Chestnut Tree to the New England landscape.
What you will learn…
History of the American Chestnut Tree in our area.
The importance of restoration efforts for wildlife habitat improvement.
On the walking tour you can learn how wild American Chestnut trees growing in the area are affected by the blight.
See our restoration efforts being performed at our club as a member of the American Chestnut Foundation.
Learn how you can incorporate planting American Chestnut Trees in conjunction with your NRCS Plan (conservation plan) and Timber Stand Improvement (forestry cutting) to maximize the benefits of planting American Chestnut Trees to create better wildlife habitat on your club or private property.
We are planning 2 walking tours lasting about an hour each. The first is starting at 10:00 am and the second at 11:00 am.
