What a privilege and delight to be welcoming the delightful and multi-talented Hannah Rickard to the Club for the very first time.
The truly delightful, endlessly talented and constantly in-demand HANNAH RICKARD brings her latest project to Moira, and we cannot wait!

Whilst this is the first time she has appeared at The National Forest Folk Club, and it is long overdue, and brings with it a RETURN visit from KIERAN SZIFRIS, this time as her new-found collaborator.

Hannah's back story is one which gives a good insight into what you can expect in this upcoming concert. Her wonderfully golden voice has been prominent in the folk scene for some time and includes, for instance, working with Club favourite Kathryn Tickell.

Given her love of country and bluegrass music she also delved into that vibrant genre with considerable success, her guitar and fiddle skills adding to her impressive vocal contributions beautifully in Hannah Rickard and The Relatives. So impressive, in fact, that FRANCIS ROSSI of rock legends STATUS QUO chose to make an album with Hannah in 2019 which they co-wrote. Rossi has long been a fan of country music and, having worked with Hannah on Status Quo's acoustic tour, called "Aquostic", immediately realised she was the one he needed to realise that ambition. Her voice and fiddle were the missing links, and how right he was! The album went straight to No. 1 in the country charts!

Now she has teamed up with Kieran Szifris to combine all of these influences and interests with evocative, intricate arrangements that push the boundaries of folk and roots music while staying deeply connected to its storytelling traditions. Their performances weave together melody, harmony, and rhythm in a way that resonates with audiences across genres. This is unsurprising given Kieran's background in traditional ceilidh music with The Monster Ceilidh Band, and also his work in the ever-popular Kathryn Tickell and The Darkening. He brings a multi-instrumentalist dimension to this duo, on mandolin, octave mandolin, flute and who knows what else!

Appearing with them will be Mark Carroll on cello and Rory Ogden on guitar and vocals, all of which will add up to a truly accomplished, wide ranging evening of music, and that is why we're so delighted to have been able to get them booked to appear in Moira. There will be busy times ahead for this multi-talented combo, and this is our chance to catch them now!
