Beannachtaí, greetings to our community of Pagans and Mystics of BC. Since the sudden passing of one of our main organizers Ian Sadler, we have come together as a community to organize, and honour Ian's memory.
Many of you will well remember Ian as the event organizer for the Pagan Potlucks he began sharing in our community back in 2012. He then went on to become a board member with the Vancouver Pagan Awareness Day annual event, and was well involved with the organizing and planning for their big day. Later Ian became the coffee social host for the Vancouver Seeker's Social, while the sister branch in Victoria continued. Ian was a member as well of the Druid tradition of ADF, and had a love of Celtic magic, and mythology. He also was keen on astrology, and was known to read the Ogham letters as a divination at coffee socials.
Ian was a valued member, and loved Community Organizer with all of us here. He had many friends from different circles, and wanted to bring people together. Ian's shared goals, and love of community continues with us here at Pagans & Mystics of BC, so this is a celebration that's open to the public, because he would have loved to have people come together to celebrate his life, and the dream he stood for to have a harmonious, and inclusive Pagan community. And we carry the torch of those aspirations, and hopes Ian had.
We will be gathering to commemorate Ian at Holand Park in Surrey BC. There are public washrooms available, and a closely located SkyTrain there at the park.
The opening ceremony will begin at 1pm, guests are welcome to arrive earlier and find a comfortable spot. We will be at the picnic table area, and have Ian's coffee social sign up, so you can identify us.
Children are welcome to bring outside toys to busy themselves. You may want to bring a fold out camping chair, and or picnic blanket. Please dress for the whether. A free water station will be provided, so bring a refillable water bottle.
Directly after the ceremony there will be a potluck and time to socialize. So please bring an item to the potluck to share, and a picnic basket or bag with your mess kit (plates, utensils, and cups). We don't want to leave any garbage at the park, so we prefer our guests to come with reusable items, so there's less chance of litter in the park.
After the ceremony Krystalynne, Ian's Co-organizer, and partner at P&M of BC will be handing out the last cards he created for Pagans and Mystics of BC, that are his original design and work. So please we ask if you receive one, not to throw it out because this is the last creative work Ian made.
We thank all of Ian's friends and connections for coming together. We look forward to seeing you there, and hearing stories about Ian, and perhaps raising a cup of tea or coffee in his memory together.
