On Saturday night, we're hosting a screening of Fully Unsupported a film documenting three riders as they take on the speed project without support (tickets available here!) To pay homage to the Speed Project, we're hosting our own mini-Speed Project style ride with Albion.
Starting from the end of the Skytrain line at King George station, riders will depart and find their own way back to Bici, taking photos at set locations to prove they were there. The route you choose to take is up to you, and both gravel bikes and road bikes would be suitable, as you can choose to stay fully on the road, or hit the gravel to take some more direct lines. Expect the ride to be anywhere form 80km-120km depending on your exact routing choices.
This is part bike-ride and part scavenger-hunt. This ride will be fully Albion style, meaning it's self supported. You can do it on your own, do it with friends, or make new friends along the way. It isn't a race, and there is no prize for finishing first, but everyone who submits photo evidence of passing through every mandatory point on the ride will be entered into a draw to win prizes from Albion and Bici.
WHEN: May 4th @10am
WHERE: Start @ King George Skytrain Station / Finish @ Bici Vancouver (1497 Adanac)
WHAT: Our own mini speed project. A free-route ride from King George Station back to Bici Vancouver, taking photos at set checkpoints. How you get from checkpoint to checkpoint is up to you. This isn't a group ride, and there is no support on the route. Do it solo, or with friends, or make new friends along the way.
DISTANCE: Between 80km and 120km
BIKES: Road bikes will be fastest, but gravel bikes will cover less distance.
NOTE: Depending on when you finish we can't guarentee that Bici will be open when you finish the ride.
