Comprehensive Irrigation for Native Plants with Tim Becker

Our winter rains have proved to be unpredictable and unreliable. Which is why we might have to step in to provide a consistent source of H2O to help our plants thrive all year round. Join us in-person for this special irrigation class to understand how to water your native plant garden across the seasons!In this three-hour course, students will learn how, when, and why to irrigate California native plants in the landscape using various types of systems and techniques. Classroom instruction is followed by a field walk and review of Theodore Payne Foundation irrigation systems and management. Students will leave with a comprehensive resource guide.This walk and talk will be held outdoors in our demonstration gardens. We ask guests to wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and to prepare for up to one hour of walking on sloped and uneven surfaces. Water bottles are strongly recommended.Tim Becker is the Theodore Payne Foundation’s Director of Horticulture where he oversees plant production, nursery operations, and horticultural education focused on California native plants. With a background in Environmental Studies and Agroecology from UC Santa Cruz, he brings expertise in sustainable landscape practices and ecological horticulture.
