Join us for an exclusive private screening of Izidor, a powerful and visually striking short film inspired by a true story. Set in 1988 communist Romania, Izidor follows the life of an eight-year-old disabled orphan trapped in a bleak asylum where “defective” children are hidden from the world. Told through a mix of animation and live action, the film paints a haunting yet hopeful portrait of resilience, love, and the human spirit.

Izidor’s world begins to change when a compassionate nurse, Onisa, secretly takes him home for a single night. As they pass beyond the asylum gates, the stark animated world transforms into vibrant live action, bursting with life, color, and family warmth. But the joy is short-lived — and Izidor is forced to confront the painful reality of where he truly belongs.

The event will be hosted by community advocate and media professional Eddrick Jerome and will feature a live Q&A with the film’s director, Dave Kabbe, immediately following the screening. This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand about the making of the film and the powerful message behind it.

All proceeds from the event will benefit The Salvation Army of Solano County, which provides critical services to those in need throughout the region—including food distribution, emergency shelter, job assistance, and youth programs.

The screening also serves to highlight Rotary International’s global campaign to eradicate polio. Rotary has been leading this effort for over 35 years, contributing more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries. With polio now endemic in only two countries, Rotary remains committed to achieving a polio-free world.
