Curious about printmaking and ready to get hands-on? Join us at The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts for Relief Printmaking: Basic Techniques, a beginner-friendly workshop that introduces one of the oldest and most versatile art forms.
In this three-hour class, you’ll explore the history of relief printmaking while learning essential tools and carving techniques. Using natural forms like leaves as inspiration, you’ll carve a simple design, ink your block, and print bold, textured images. You’ll create at least two original prints to take home, along with your carved block and the skills to continue experimenting on your own. Participants are also welcome to bring a personal sketch or idea to turn into a one-of-a-kind print.
All supplies are included, and no prior experience is required. Just bring your creativity and be ready to get a little inky. Please note that this class involves the use of sharp tools.
