Our Town in Clay - A Free Community Project

In celebration of the Open Door Gallery’s 25th birthday this year, we’ve collaborated together to bring you a very special project. We need your help to build Sturgis in clay! 🏙️ 🏡

Our goal is to bring community members together to build a 3-D house, paint a tile of your house, or create the facade of a downtown building of your choice. We’ll supply the materials and tools, you spread the word and bring your friends!

Everyone can join, this project is open for members of surrounding communities. Kids (with an adult), teens, adults, and families are all welcome. No clay experience is required, we’ll have templates to choose from and guidance will be provided. Experienced artists from other mediums can explore their creativity with support from our team.

Sessions will be on Saturdays starting April 19th - May 10th, 10am to 1pm on the second floor above the Open Door Gallery. Prepare to be creative and have fun!

During the MI Art Fest, our finished clay town will be proudly displayed in the Open Door Gallery’s vitrine - a beautiful tribute to our town and its people. Projects can be taken home afterwards.
