Block Printing for Christmas with Jenny Stringer

We are delighted to welcome Jenny Stringer who will be teaching Christmas block printing to budding printmakers this November.

Whether you’ve attempted block printing before, or if you’re a complete beginner, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn with a talented and experienced artist. Cut your own blocks, or use ones that Jenny brings with her to print Christmas presents, wrapping paper or a few cards. There will be a range of colours, which will be fast once the fabric has been ironed and a variety of pattern-making possibilities. You could print on a tea towel, apron, gift-wrap, or perhaps a pillowcase, in time for Christmas.

Snowflakes, holly, mistletoe as well as less obvious designs are available. There will be some items ready to print, and of course you can bring your own. If you would like to print from a specific theme (ie. vegetarian dinosaurs!) please let Jenny know and she will see what there is in her collection. As you experiment, you’ll learn about colour, spacing, rhythm and the fascination this endangered craft engenders, and go home with at least part of the Christmas preparations done!
