Biosecurity is one of the most important things we do at Rotokare, ensuring the reserve remains pest free and safe for our native wildlife. We do regular monitoring to check we are free of pest animals and follow up on anything we find!
From Sunday, October 12th, we will be putting out tracking cards across the across the entire reserve.
We're trying to cover as much of this as we can in one hit to give us a really good snapshot of what's going on so we need your help!
There are a range of different lines to suit a range of abilities and fitness levels. Training will be given on the day as required.
Please bring warm clothes (which you don't mind getting dirty), good footwear for uneven surfaces (it's wet and slippery in the bush, and can be steep in places), a drink and plenty of enthusiasm.
Our working bee runs from 845am-1pm with lunch provided afterwards (please RSVP for catering purposes).
This is a great way to see different parts of the reserve and meet some of the awesome plants and animals which call Rotokare home.
Not free on Sunday? Got some time during the week? No worries! There may be a few lines left to do so please message us if you have any time the following week to help tidy this up (we are grateful for whatever time you have to spare!)
Cards will be coming back in from Sunday October 19th and we'd love your help bringing all the cards back in :)
Thank you so so much for your support. Look forward to seeing you there!
