About the event

LIMEHOF Music Doc Festival: From Good Homes: Charlie Loves Our Band/D.I.Y.L.I.
From Good Homes: Charlie Loves Our Band
Feature | United States | 90 Minutes | English
A story of the band From Good Homes - the best band you’ve never heard of. With top-notch songwriting, a dynamic stage presence and inventive arrangements that often prominently featured mandolin, violin and/or saxophone, From Good Homes got further than most bands, releasing two major label albums (in 1995 and 1998, both on RCA) and touring all over the country. But they were never able to get to the next level, that one lucky break a band often needs to get ahead proved elusive, and RCA appeared to lose interest.
In their song “Charlie Hogan,” From Good Homes describe that some nights, “he’s the only person in the stands.” Through decades of performing in small bars in northern NJ, to some of the biggest venues, supporting some of the biggest artists, the music
of From Good Homes persists. This film uncovers the musical and social influences of the late-1980’s and 90's that fueled this band’s long journey, and continues to inspire new “Charlie Hogans” along the way! A celebration of a musical catalog that the world needs to hear!
Member of the band, Brady Rymer, serves on the Education Board of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.
Director: Victor Guadagno
After the Screening: A live conversation with director Victor Guadagno and subject in film and member of band From Good Homes, Brady Rymer. He will also be doing a solo performance.
D.I.Y.L.I.
Short | United States | 16 Minutes | English
Long Island is home to a devoted group of musicians who spend their time and money making music. They don't expect profit or fame, but merely play because they love it. D.I.Y.L.I. (stands for Do It Yourself Long Island) looks into the hectic lives of several of these musicians, most of which jump from job to job and play in several other bands in order to keep doing what they do.
Director: Brian Stieglitz
After the screening: A live conversation with director Brian Stieglitz and members of D.I.Y. bands Mega Infinity (formerly Mega Weapon) & Moon Tooth. Mega Infinity will perform.
Tickets - $10
