Artist Information: Nadine Wilde is a handweaver and artist that uses the language of weaving to explore the delicate dance of material, colour, and form, all while delving into themes of connection - to place, to kin, and to self. Where possible she utilises natural and discarded materials - second-hand, local or destined for landfill yarns breathing new life into them, transforming waste into stories whilst giving materials a renewed purpose and creating new ecologies from what was once forgotten. Her tapestries combine a mixture of traditional and unconventional techniques, and translate stories, ideas and feelings through the use of symbolism and abstract forms. Through this method of storytelling, her work aims to encourage the viewer to see the beauty in the everyday that surrounds us. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Craft: Textile Art at HDK (University of Gothenburg) and her practice is based between Sweden and the UK. Her creative practice and work experience expands over a range of facilitating and hosting workshops, teaching at secondary and higher education institutes and as a weave technical tutor.
