Clay and Recovery Knowledge Exchange
Join us for an afternoon of sharing experiences and understanding of the use of clay-based activity within the context of drug and alcohol addiction recovery.

About the Clay and Recovery Knowledge Exchange

A half-day event, 1 - 4:30pm, highlighting creative health projects from across the UK, where clay activities are offered to people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Take a detailed look at the delivery of three different projects and their impact. The afternoon will be a welcoming and informal space for discussion and reflection where you will be able to share your experiences with others.

Make a day of it!

- 10-11am: Join us for a tour of some of the key exhibitions at the 2025 British Ceramics Biennial.

- 12-1pm: A pay-as-you-feel lunch at Bread in Common, B-Arts’ Community Café.

- 1-4:30pm: Clay and Recovery Knowledge Exchange at B-Arts.

A full afternoon of case studies and breakout discussions, including:

Introduction from Joanne Mills, Studio & Community Programme Manager for BCB and David Cutler, Director of the Baring Foundation
Presentation of Research from Dena Bagi, Lecturer in Curating, Manchester School of Art

Recast: British Ceramics Biennial and Stoke Recovery Service
Recovery Through Ceramics: The Shipley Art Gallery, Bensham Grove Pottery and Recovery Connections

About British Ceramics Biennial (BCB)

British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) is an arts organisation that fosters innovative ceramics practice and improves lives together with artists and creative communities. We deliver year-round programmes responding to Stoke-on-Trent’s health, education and creative needs, and we feed these into the Biennial – the UK’s largest contemporary ceramics event.

There is an optional tour of the Biennial from 10-11am, which will be on the Spode Works site, 125 Church street entrance, ST4 1BU.
