About the event

Discover the Untold Story of Native Women in Illinois History
Join award-winning Ojibwa author and presenter Kim Sigafus as she highlights “The Hidden Half”—powerful Native American women like Singing Bird (Black Hawk’s wife) and Hononegah, who shaped the history of Illinois in extraordinary ways.

Dressed in stunning native regalia, Kim will lead an interactive experience featuring:
– Traditional courtship & family life stories
– Cultural artifacts from daily Native life
– Native language, music & drumming (you’ll even get to play!)

Presented by Kim Sigafus, author, speaker, and owner of Quiet Souls gift shop in Freeport—her work brings Native culture to life with warmth, wisdom, and heart.

Come connect, learn, and take part in history that deserves to be heard.
