This Christmas, step into the heart of Buxton for a series of special events celebrating local music, drama, crafts and more. From festive performances to hands-on activities, each event invites you to take part, watch or simply listen, everyone is welcome.
Most events run from 4–6pm, are completely free, and suitable for all ages. Along the way, you’ll find opportunities to purchase refreshments and gifts, but there’s absolutely no obligation to do so.
Each participating building or shop has a unique story to share. As you explore, discover Buxton’s heritage through windows that come alive with creativity and community spirit.
Please note: some venues may be small or have steps. We’re working with partners to make events as accessible as possible, and volunteers will be on hand to assist.
Located on High Street in Higher Buxton, The Nocturne is a unique coffee shop and classical music venue run by partners Charlotte Josephine and Daniel Dudek, who relocated from Stockport and opened the shop in May 2023. Their vision blends artisan coffee with accessible classical music, creating a warm, creative space where visitors can enjoy live piano, aesthetic food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Charlotte serves specialty coffee and waffles while both Charlotte and Daniel offer piano lessons and impromptu performances on the café’s piano.
The shop occupies the former Goddard’s Music Store, a beloved Buxton institution that served the town for over 100 years. By reviving the building’s musical legacy, The Nocturne continues its tradition as a hub for creativity and community.
As part of Through the Shop Window, The Nocturne invites families to drop in for live piano, playful paper dolls, and costumed characters, bringing festive charm to the heart of Higher Buxton.
