We are very pleased to announce that Paul Morin will be demonstrating his bird painting techniques at the SMA on Thursday 24th July, 7.30 to 9.30pm.
Paul has been an exhibiting member of High Peak Artists for the last 3 years, with a permanent exhibition space at Gallery In The Gardens, Buxton, where he sells original paintings and signed limited edition giclee prints of his work. He has a Fine Art background and gained a degree in painting at Manchester Polytechnic in 1988, followed by an MA in Fine Art at Chester University in 2000.
For the Buxton Gallery, he produces detailed observation pieces on a variety of different themes including cyclists, birds, people, cats and dogs - and his work has been noted for its slightly whimsical and humorous touch, reflecting his love of both the natural world and human behaviour. He uses mainly watercolours and inks for these works, as it allows him to develop each piece slowly in layers whilst working with high quality pigments and brushes. His 'people' paintings (cyclists, dog-walkers etc) come from a different place of inspiration - he loves people-watching, and is sure this finds its way into his work!

Free to SMA members, visitors are welcome on the night for £8: please bring your own art supplies (and a mug if you'd like a free brew). We look forward to you joining us.
