On June 2, 2025, Kevin Balfe, a dedicated and hardworking self-employed truck driver, was involved in a devastating workplace accident. Tragically, the tractor truck hauling equipment rolled over him, crushing his pelvis, both femurs, and severing a major artery. These significant injuries resulted in the amputation of his left leg and left side of his pelvis; a hemipelvectomy.
Kevin has undergone multiple life-saving surgeries to repair internal injuries and stabilize his condition. Thanks to the White River Valley Ambulance crew, Gifford Hospital ER, DHART helicopter, and incredible trauma and ICU teams at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Kevin survived what few could, including multiple organ failure. He has now been moved to a rehabilitation facility, where he is relearning how to move, balance, and live with his dramatically altered body.
Despite the challenges, Kevin is showing remarkable determination. His right leg is healing, and there is hope it will become fully functional. His path to recovery will be long and filled with unknowns, including extensive physical therapy and the need for equipment like a wheelchair, stair lift, and other adaptive devices to help him regain independence.
Kevin’s strength and perseverance are inspiring, but he and his loved ones face a difficult road ahead. Your support—whether emotional, financial, or through sharing his story—means everything during this critical time.
We invite you to come show your support for Kevin Balfe in his recovery.
