Join award-winning South Australian artist Robin Hicks for a relaxed, hands-on workshop designed to help you capture the essence of the natural world with confidence and creativity. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to build on your painting skills, you’ll learn how to simplify a scene, build depth, and bring light and atmosphere into your seascapes using the versatility of acrylic paint.
Through guided demonstrations, step-by-step techniques, and individual support, you’ll walk away with your own finished artwork and a toolkit of tips for painting seascapes with flair.

Paint (Heavy body or medium body acrylics recommended):
Titanium White
Unbleached Titanium White
Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean or Manganese Blue
Alizarin or similar cool red
Cadmium Red or similar warm red
Turner’s Yellow
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Burnt Sienna
Burnt Umber
Yellow Ochre or Australian Sienna
Bring along any paints you already have.
Bring cartridge paper for sketching prep work
1 - 2 Canvas boards, stretched canvas or canvas paper, minimum 40 x 30 cm to 60 x 40cm, or square format 60 x 60cm
Brushes
A selection of flat and round brushes (e.g., sizes 2, 6, 10)
One large flat brush for blocking in
Other Essentials
Palette (disposable palette pad or tear-off sheets work well)
Palette knife
Water container
Spray bottle (for misting the paint to keep it workable)
Cloth or paper towels
Apron or old shirt
Notebook and pen (for jotting down colour mixes and tips)
