Chris's story:
On May 6th 2025 our lives were forever changed when Chris went to the ER for what we thought was a pinched nerve. In the coming days we discovered our beloved dad, husband, grandpa, and friend Chris was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Since then, life has moved fast—multiple scans, a biopsy, and after seeking opinions from top centers like Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota, Chris underwent an advanced LITT brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible where they were able to ablate 80–90% successfully.
While he’s now recovering at home, Chris is facing significant left-side weakness and requires around-the-clock support. His care plan includes six weeks of daily radiation and chemotherapy, which began June 11th, with hopes of enrolling in some clinical trials with the goal of shrinking/killing the tumor cells and avoiding recurrence as long as possible.

Glioblastoma is an aggressive and fast-growing type of brain cancer that originates in the glial cells, which support and protect nerve cells in the brain. It is the most common and devastating form of malignant brain tumor in adults. Despite current treatments like surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, glioblastoma remains extremely difficult to cure, making ongoing research and support for affected individuals and families critically important.
Who are Chris and Patti Goetzke?
Chris and Patti Goetzke are the founders and owners of The Tilted Tiki, a popular bar in downtown Stillwater, MN, where they’ve built a loyal community around their passion for hospitality, creative cocktails, great food, and relaxing vibes. They have two adult children and four grandchildren that they adore with all their hearts. They live in Woodbury, MN.
