Pay What You Will Admission | Historic Staunton, Virginia
Celebrate American Independence in a meaningful and memorable way at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, Virginia.
On Saturday, *July 5*, enjoy a full day of hands-on activities, interactive history, and family-friendly fun that brings the spirit of 1776 to life.
This special event gives you the opportunity to experience how early Americans marked Independence Day. From apple pie making and traditional games to a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, the event combines education and entertainment across the Museum’s exhibits.
According to a local newspaper in 1809, “about 50 gentlemen and a number of ladies partook of a plain Barbecue, where none but Domestic productions were eaten…In short, the whole afternoon was spent with a good humor, harmony, and joy, which the Fourth of July ought always to inspire into the bosoms of Americans.” The Frontier Culture Museum carries that spirit forward each year with this celebration. Join us on JULY 5th!
Highlights of the day include:
- Apple pie making demonstrations
- Traditional 18th- and 19th-century games
- Reading of the Declaration of Independence
- Access to all museum exhibits and historic farms
- Programs and activities for all ages
Admission is Pay What You Will. Come enjoy a day of discovery and celebration with family and friends.
