Join us for the opening of DUET, an exciting new exhibition featuring the work of artists David Garratt and Barbara Bernstein — exhibiting together for the very first time.
Though both artists have shown their work nationally and internationally for decades, DUET marks the first time their practices will be presented side by side. The exhibition includes sculpture, painting, and handmade furniture by Garratt, along with collage, drawing, and a site-specific installation by Bernstein.
David Garratt is a sculptor and painter whose work has earned recognition from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Cultural Magistrate of Salzburg, and international juried exhibitions in Korea. He studied under Richard O’Hanlon at UC Berkeley and brings a lifetime of material exploration and formal invention to his work.
Barbara Bernstein is a visual artist and writer whose practice spans drawing, public art, and interdisciplinary installation. She has held residencies at the American Academy in Rome, the MacDowell Colony, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, and received grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation. Her public artworks can be seen across Virginia — including several permanent pieces in Staunton.
Come meet the artists and celebrate their shared creative vision at this special reception.
