700 Rockland Ave, Staten Island, United States
Spotted Lanternflies first showed up as an invasive species in the Northeast in 2014. They are pests to fruits and trees feeding on 70 local plant species. Since 2020 the flies have been recorded in New York. Lanternflies and lanternfly instars are now everywhere in the Southern and Western shores of Staten Island. With no known native predators it is crucial to stop the spread before the species potentially decimates North American crops and native tree populations.
The building session will run from 10:00 am to 12:00pm. Materials, tools and instruction will be provided on site.
