This one-day workshop is all about getting comfortable with color in the flame. We'll cover the basics of how different colors react in the torch, then dive into hands-on techniques for making custom colored tubing and basic shaping. Students will be introduced to flame chemistry and how it affects color, core flameworking techniques, layering and design. Students will leave the workshop with a better understanding of flameworking with borosilicate glass and at least one finished piece.
No previous experience is necessary. This workshop includes lunch in our historic dining lodge.
Nicole Berger, artist behind Cold Berger Glass, began her glass career at Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Communications and a focus in Glass Arts, she quickly transitioned into flameworking, apprenticing under renowned artists in the field. Now based in Denver, CO, Nicole works independently as a pipe, jewelry, and, more recently, home goods artist. Drawing inspiration from 1990s pop culture, her pieces feature vibrant color palettes, geometric shapes, and nostalgic symbols that transport viewers back to a simpler, more playful time. Currently, she is focused on deepening her skills and sharing her knowledge by teaching workshops and classes at glass institutions around the world.
