Artists Retreat "Find YOUR Authentic Self"

"Return to Ourselves, An Exploration of Artists and Ancestors in creative journey" will be experienced in a unique way during the Opening ceremony on the first night. Our goal is to explore practical tools in finding YOUR authentic self and voice in artistic expression through understanding who you are as an individual through your lineage and psychology.

Artist and Teacher Alla Dickson will demonstrate bold, intuitive and free brush strokes in Alla Prima impressionistic style with a focus on energy, emotion, atmosphere, and light.

Artist and Teacher Rob Vander Zee will share his philosophy of the "9 Elements of Masterful Painting" guiding and encouraging students to develop their own personal style. Having over 30 years of educating experience behind his shoulders, Rob doesn't teach students to paint like him, he mentors them to start painting like themselves. He uses psychology in exploration of each artist's personality traits, uncovering and helping them understand their once hidden strengths and potential. He believes an authentic artist can be found in each of us, it's up to a good instructor to help the student discover the creator that lives inside of them.

After these demonstrations of two different styles you will be highly motivated to paint plein air in the most glorious wilderness or in Rob's remarkable studio with your choice of the subject matter and location. Rob and Alla will be assisting you individually in finding YOUR authentic style.

WHERE: Lynx Run Wilderness Retreat.

WHEN: July 25, 26, 27.

TUITION: $375 includes two nights lodging in individual room
and meals.

WHAT TO BRING:
*Your art supplies (several canvases with a minimum size is 16”x20”), oil paints, easel, brushes, etc AND the plan for packing oil paintings in your car).
*Outdoor essentials: mosquito repellant, sunscreen.
*Toiletries, towel.

WHAT TO WEAR:
casual, comfortable for painting plein air. For the Retreat opening ceremonial night we suggest to wear anything unusual, possibly loose and long. Be wild! Celebrate your uniqueness!

SCHEDULE:
July 25:
5-6:30 PM - arrival.
7:00 PM – gathering at the library, charcuterie, followed by a life changing transformative experience with a focus on leaving fears, doubts, self-criticism behind through a powerful evening gathering, connecting with your ancestral wisdom, your individual intuition; then enigmatic walk through the wilderness to a rushing trout creek, ceremony by the fire and in tipi.

July 26: 9 AM – one hour demonstration by Alla Dickson intuitive impressionistic painting style, two hours individual painting plein air. Lunch. One hour demonstration by Rob. Two hours individual painting. Free time. Dinner.

July 27: 9-12 PM Individual painting. Lunch. Departure.
