Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill is a horror novel about aging rock star Judas Coyne, who purchases a ghost off the internet, only to find it delivered in a heart-shaped box. The ghost, the spirit of a deceased man named Craddock, is the stepfather of Jude's deceased ex-girlfriend and seeks revenge for wrongs done to her, relentlessly stalking Jude and his current girlfriend, Marybeth, in a terrifying game of supernatural pursuit. Jude must confront his own past traumas and guilt, and even enter the spirit world, to defeat Craddock and survive the haunting.
