FOUR WONDERFUL WRITERS!

Laurie Hertzel Laurie Hertzel spent 15 years as the books editor at the Minneapolis Star Tribune and now teaches in the low-residency Narrative Nonfiction MFA program at the University of Georgia. She reviews books for the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, and elsewhere. Her first memoir, "News to Me: Adventures of an Accidental Journalist," won a Minnesota Book Award. Her second memoir, "Ghosts of Fourth Street: My Family, a Death, and the Hills of Duluth," will be published in spring by the University of Minnesota Press.

Sharon Chmielarz was born and raised in Mobridge, South Dakota, three miles from the Missouri River. She graduated from the University of Minnesota and has since lived and worked in the Twin Cities. Her latest, thirteenth, book of poetry is Speaking in Riddles, 2021. Previous books have been finalists for the Independent Book Publishers Award, Midwest Book Awards, National Poetry Series, and the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Kirkus Review named her The Widow’s House one of the 100 Best Books of 2016. The Other Mozart, a biography of Nannerl Mozart in poetry, was made into an opera.

Ted King is a widely published Jazz poet and author of six delightful chapbooks. Happy to return to his favorite venue, Ted will read a few of his own original poems plus a selection or two from the works of Ethna McKiernan.

Michael Kleeber-Diggs is a poet, essayist, literary critic, and arts educator. He is the author of Worldly Things which won the Max Ritvo Poetry Prize and was published by Milkweed Editions in 2021. His essay, "There Was a Tremendous Softness," appears in A Darker Wilderness: Black Nature Writing from Soil to Stars, edited by Erin Sharkey (Milkweed Editions, 2023). His poems and essays often explore themes of intimacy, community, empathy, and grace, practices he believes are simultaneously distinct and interdependent.
