The art form of dance permeates music of the Baroque era.
Hosted by the Early Music Society of Queensland and Austral Harmony, DIVERSITY of the DANCE is an in-depth exploration of the individual character and expression of popular C18th dances of different nationalities and styles. The workship offers guidance on how to perform the various dance types, treating melody, rhythm, movement and metre from an historically inspired perspective.
Austral Harmony welcomes:
• musicians on baroque or modern instruments of all levels
• musicians with an interest in Historical Performance Practice
• observers
WORKSHOP FEE
• Performing participants $20 - please pay CASH on the day
• FREE to observers, however please register via the enrolment form
•The DANCE with BACH Concert from 2 - 3pm features the dance types discussed and highlights the individual voices of baroque instruments performed by the tutors. This concert is FREE to all who attend the workshop : )
