The Price of Gold - Book Launch

Join John Sandlos and Arn Keeling to celebrate the publication of their new book, The Price of Gold: Mining, Pollution and Resistance in Yellowknife.

The book tells the troubled tale of Giant Mine, which polluted the air and water around Yellowknife with arsenic trioxide for fifty years, leaving behind 237,000 tonnes of the highly toxic material buried underground.

It also recounts the remarkable efforts of the Yellowknives Dene, labour unions, and environmental activists to stop the pollution.

Copies of the book will be available & 10% of sales will go to Alternatives North, a social justice coalition in the Northwest Territories
