Sound Arts Initiatives is pleased to present Day Music, a new monthly workshop and open jam series on the last Saturday of each month. Day Music is open to adults and youth ages 13 and up, no musical experience required. Offered in partnership with the Froude Avenue Community Centre, the space is fully accessible and parking is available. Admission is by donation.
February's Day Music facilitator is Persio Domínguez, presenting a workshop on carnival in the Dominican Republic! Join us for an engaging and interactive workshop celebrating the energy and joy of this vibrant tradition. Learn about iconic Carnival characters and their costumes, explore the meaning and structure of the Carnival parade, and discover the traditional music and rhythms played during the comparsa procession. Bring your instrument, join the celebration, and embody the Dominican Carnival spirit!
