Ribbon Skirt Workshop

This free workshop is for Indigenous adults and teens who have never made a ribbon skirt. Two-spirit friendly. The workshop will be led by all around pow wow dancer and regalia maker Juanita Desjarlis.

Juanita Desjarlais is Cree and Dene from Fort McKay First Nations. She is a second generation survivor of Residential School as well as a sixties scooper. She loves to engage in cultural practices as well as creating and designing ribbon skirts and clothing/regalia.

Juanita is an all around pow wow dancer: fancy, jingle and traditional. She loves to dance and express herself through cultural dancing and cultural events. She also sits on the February 14th MMIWGLGBQ2S memorial march committee and continues to address policy changes as the bureaucratic level to advocate to eliminate violence against MMIWGLGBQ2S, always working to promote change.
