Join Hanna Wahlberg at Eponas Acres in the Upper Squamish Valley for an Equine First Aid Course being taught on August 2nd/3rd 2025, by Lead Trainer and Senior Equi-Health Canada Instructor Courtney Gledstone.
This is a 2-day hands-on course with horses covering Standard Equine First Aid skills on Saturday and Advanced Equine Emergency First Aid techniques on Sunday (the first day is the pre-requisite for the second day).
The first day covers: what your vet needs to know when you call, conditioning a horse to accept treatment, taking proper vital signs, dealing with lacerations, punctures, colic, choke, collapse, casting, shock, hoof issues, recognizing pain in the horse, sources of pain and alleviation, spinal health, injury prevention and much more! You'll receive a take-home manual, certificate of completion, and vital signs card.
The second day covers everything from assessing the condition of a horse, trapped horses, poison, burns, bites, hypo/hyperthermia, tie ups, fractures, sucking chest wounds and more. This course prepares the student to handle the most serious injuries, where without human intervention the horse will not survive.
