Y2Y Summer Experience is back! Join us on August 4th and 5th to experience a condensed, action-packed experience of the Youth to Youth afterschool program—summer style!
What you’ll get to do and experience:
-Meet new friends
-Play fun & hilarious games
-Record a radio public service announcement (that will actually air on WTOE/WKYK!)
-Volunteer at a local food bank, community garden, or animal shelter (TBD)
-Do a craft project: learn how to create your own resin keychain with nature objects
-Enjoy a fun, outdoor activity (swimming, hiking, etc. TBD)
Learn about the year-round, Youth to Youth after-school program
Snacks are provided on both days. Transportation home from the YMCA facility in Spruce Pine is available for those who need it (for students living in Mitchell County only). Appalachian Youth to Youth seeks to foster positive youth development through meaningful connections with other youth and adult mentors, enrichment experiences, leadership development, and youth-driven community service projects.
In 2024, the newest chapter of Appalachian Youth to Youth opened in Mitchell County and meets weekly after school at the YMCA in Spruce Pine. Students who attend the Appalachian Youth to Youth Summer Experience and wish to continue are invited to enroll in the Youth to Youth 2025/2026 after-school program.
