Blue Mountains Theatre presents Jerrah Patston – Abandoned Cricket Games Album Launch and Concert
Acclaimed Blue Mountains musician Jerrah Patston is performing his latest album in full, along with a selection of fan favourites from his career.
Jerrah will be joined on stage by his long-time collaborator, Sam Worrad – an accomplished guitarist who has worked as a producer and supportive artist at Club Weld since 2015.
Singer-songwriter (and Jerrah’s brother) Manning will open the evening with his own warm acoustics and heartfelt melodies, adding to the showcase of musical talent inherent in the Patston family.
Abandoned Cricket Games is Jerrah's third full-length album and it traverses detailed and vivid themes including cancelled sporting fixtures (the title track), Scottish festivals (Bagpipes In The Carpark), seeing Paul McCartney in Newcastle (Didn't Play Mull Of Kintyre) and the construction of the Springwood Library (Construction's Going On).
Recorded over two days at MONA's Frying Pan Studios through the ex-Abbey Road REDD.17 recording console (as used by The Beatles and Pink Floyd), the album is a stunner and Jerrah's best work yet.
"Jerrah Patston is a wonderful and inventive songwriter, and his music is one of [Radio National] The Music Show's discovery highlights this year. His songs contain witty observations about everyday life, catchy melodies and harmonies, and clever songwriting structures.”
Ellie Parnell, Producer, ABC Radio National, Music Show
Jerrah is noted for his whimsical style and beautiful harmonies from previous albums Going Places and Sounds Like Rain, both of which were launched at the Hub to rapturous audiences.
He has recorded at the Opera House, appeared on 7:30, played live at festivals, performed for Governor-General Sam Mostyn and provided music for the “one take romcom” Head Over Wheels and children’s program Cool Stuff With Fizzy & Suds.
