Trip notes:
Faulconbridge Point is another popular ridge top Blue Mountains ride, following the mainly smooth and sandy fire trail to a spectacular lookout at the Point. This ride is well suited to beginner and intermediate level riders. Although there are hills, most of the track is reasonably level, and the surface is well travelled, making for a fairly easy ride.
Distance:
13km return
Elevation/Climb:
300m
Difficulty:
Easy
Time suggested:
1 hour return
The trail:
The trail undulates along the ridge top for the entire duration with a few long hills that will be tiring if you are a beginner. There are several long, level smooth sections which you can race along and feel the wind in your hair. Most of the track passes through heavily wooded bushland offering shade at any time of day.
The lookout at the end is well worth the effort and the cliff top vantage point is a perfect place to relax with a drink and a snack to recharge.
Getting there:
By car:
Heading west along the Great Western Highway, turn right into Grose Rd at Faulconbridge (the turn-off to the Norman Lindsay Gallery).
Veer left at the Chapman Pde roundabout, and continue along Grose road.
Keep left at Jennings Road and follow the dirt road as far as you can all the way to the carpark & locked gate.
By train:
Alight train at Faulconbridge station.
Cross the highway using the overpass and head in an easterly direction down the Great Western Highway.
Turn left into Grose Road and follow it to the end.
**NOTE: we love riding with trail dogs, but this ride is national park so unfortunately they’ll have to stay home this time **
