Auditions for Jesus Christ Superstar are Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th at the HCFTA. We will also be accepting video auditions no later than Friday, January 9th but you must be available for callbacks on Sunday to be cast. Please submit video auditions to

If interested in auditioning, here are a few things you need to know!
We will be considering any gender or race for any of the available roles, but please be aware that the pronouns written in the material will not be changed and music will not be transposed to a different key.
Our goal is to have both a vocal ensemble and a dance ensemble. The choreography in this show has the potential to be quite intense in some aspects, which is where our vocal ensemble will come in to support our sound where it may be needed. Everyone will participate in both aspects in some capacity, but if you want to focus more on dance or more on vocals, there is a spot for you!
Most of the principal named roles will be singing and dancing in some form. So, if you are auditioning for a specific role, please sign up for both vocal and dance auditions.
Please be aware that there is no spoken dialogue in this show. So, when choosing your song, please choose something that not only shows off your vocals but also your acting skills. Additionally, in lieu of a traditional reading portion of the audition process, if you are auditioning for a specific named role you will be required to sing an excerpt we have selected for the character you wish to audition for. Please feel free to sing anything you want for your initial audition, but be prepared to sing the provided excerpt for the character you want for callbacks.

Character Descriptions:
JESUS
Rock Tenor.
Leader of the twelve Apostles, a person called the "Son of God" and the "King of the Jews".
JUDAS
Rock Tenor.
Arguably the antagonist of the show. One of the twelve apostles of Jesus; concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus' fame.
MARY MAGDALENE
Mezzo Soprano
A follower of Jesus who finds herself falling in love with him. The role requires an actress that can show grace, stability, weakness and compassion.
PILATE
Rock Baritone.
Governor of Judea who foresees the events of Jesus' crucifixion from beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented with that very situation.
KING HEROD
High Baritone.
The King of Galilee; Flamboyant, Jesus is brought to him for judgment after first being taken to Pilate.
PETER
Tenor.
One of Jesus' twelve apostles; denies Jesus three times upon the night of Jesus' arrest to save himself.
SIMON
High Baritone.
One of Jesus' twelve apostles; urges Jesus to lead his followers into battle against the Romans.
CAIAPHAS
Low Bass with Rocky Top.
High priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation.
ANNAS
High Baritone.
Fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat.
