Pumpkin or Jack o’lantern Wall Hanging Class

In this class, you'll make a cute Halloween jack o’lantern or pumpkin wall hanging. As you do, you'll learn (or refresh) several quilting skills: piecing, appliqué, quilting, and binding including a hanging sleeve. That's the whole quilt process- start to finish! Optionally, you can try trapunto.

Need:
For the Pumpkin
6-8 scraps of various widths that are 8 1/2” long
or 6-8 of one print in 8 1/2” squares
For the background
1-FQ or 1/4 yard black print
For the border
1-FQ or 1/4 yard orange print
For the binding
1-FQ or 1/4 yard black solid
Batting
1/2 yard of your favorite batting (I like fusible the best.)
Backing and Hanging pocket
1- FQ or 1/2 yard

For the Jack o’lantern face
Fabric requirements are the same as the pumpkin above. You will want to have a few additional scraps of your favorite black, orange, green, purple prints for the face. These are small pieces 5”x5” of each should be
good.
For the Star
A 5” square of yellow or golden fabric

Additional items needed to appliqué the adorable face.
*Heat n bond- 1/2 yard (you choose lite or No-sew)
*Threads to match (or contrast if you want) your prints for the pumpkin, jack o lantern face, star, borders, binding, and backing.
*Googly eye buttons will be provided

Don’t forget your thread for piecing your wall hanging as you go, your preference. I would go with a black or orange.

Most importantly
Bring your working sewing machine with your power cord and foot controller, quarter inch foot, zig-zag foot and decorative stitch foot (optional).

Helpful items you will want to have - safety pins, wonder clips, a erasable pen- frixion/ air erase / water erase (must be erasable), hand sewing needle, and your regular sewing paraphernalia (stuff like pins, Snips, seam ripper, etc.)
