CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

**All roles are over-the-top caricatures of 1980’s stereotypes. Though certain references are made to help guide your performance— ALL abilities, ages, and looks are welcome and wanted! YOU MUST BE 18+ to audition

VANNA WHITESNAKE/ doubles as Mom Barb (female or non-binary, LEAD)
Vanna is a big-haired biker chick, who drives a motorcycle, smokes cigarettes, and got kicked out of camp when she was a kid. She’s come back to Killamanbimbo because she aged out of Juvenile Detention Center and her Ma won’t let her back in the house. What did she do to get kicked out in the first place? Will her sordid past catch up to her? Does she have a heart of gold underneath all that hair, or just a shank? 1980’s influence: Watts from Some Kind of Wonderful, Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club, Biker chicks, Eddie from Rocky Horror.

MS. CRYSTAL LAKEWOOD- (female or non-binary, FEATURE)
Ms. Lakewood is the longtime and suffering owner of Camp Killamanbimbo. She opened the camp in 1969, at the height of the summer camp popularity but things aren’t like they used to be. She longs for the days before video games and mall bangs. Ms. Lakewood has fond memories of her own time at Summer Camp, but have today's lazy teens pushed her over the edge? Influence: 80’s outdoorsy granola business woman, girl scout leaders you had in the 80’s.

RUE BICKS/ doubles as Cop Mary- (female or non-binary presenting, LEAD)
Rue is tech influenced, has a wristwatch calculator, is a total spaz and very religious. She falls madly in love with Anthony Sloane Stevens and must sing a little bit. Her parents left her at a nunnery when she was a baby. Did they know something we don’t? 1980’s influence: Urkle, Weird Science, Punky Brewster.

DAISY DUKAKIS- (female presenting, LEAD)
Young, dumb, and full of FUN! Daisy loves to party and is a total Valley Girl. She’s a “dancer” back home. Must be able to talk like a Valley Girl and rock some mall bangs. Daisy dances and sings a little. Is Daisy really just a blonde-bimbo lookin' for a good time, or is she a secret evil mastermind? 1980’s influence: Stacey from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the movie Valley Girl, all things VALLEY

POLLY PINBALLED- (female presenting, FEATURE)
Just a girl next door, short red hair, different, not like other girls, grew up poor, made her own prom dress. Is she just a copycat of a classic 80’s icon, or is she hiding something devious under that hideous prom dress she made? 1980’s influence: literally just Molly Ringwald. Please watch Molly Ringwald and sound just like her, thank you. No matter who you are, you’ll be wearing a Molly Ringwald wig.

JUAN CUTESACK/ triples as Mailman/Cop- (male, non-binary, FEATURE)
A synth-pop, snide, queer kid who loves music. He is just trying to make ART, but nobody understands. His parents also made him be a camp counselor because they felt he was becoming too pale. He helps Anthony uncover his true-self. He listens to the Cure a lot, but has his dark side gotten TOO DARK? 1980’s influence: Boy George and David Bowie mixed with John Cusack. Dry humor.

ROB BLOW- doubles as Cop Gary (male or presenting, LEAD)
Rob is the lead camp counselor, must be able to play basic guitar and sing. He’s sweet, genuine, and an ex-boy scout-next-door type, and cares about everybody’s well-being. He’s a guy to bring home to Mom. All of the girls think he’s cute, but for some reason he never has a girlfriend. What is his smile hiding? 1980’s influence: Rob Lowe in Parks and Recreation if he were from the 1980’s.

THEODORE RUXPIN- (male presenting, LEAD)
Theodore is rich, mean, misogynistic, and a bully. He wears a Rolex, boat shoes, and has the swoopy hair. Dating Polly Pinballed but he always has a new girl on his arm. What’s he hiding under that Member’s Only jacket? 1980’s influence: James Spader in most 80’s movies. Any 80’s bully.

HAMBONER/ doubles as Step-dad (male presenting, FEATURE)
Hamboner is an 80’s musclehead jock who has a lot of muscles with very little brain. He loves Camp Killamanbimbo and is good at picking up large rocks. He’s obsessed with never leaving, but how obsessed is he? 1980’s influence: The Terminator, Robocop, Jean Claude Van Damme, WWE.
